Christie Finance completes funding for Belmere Care Group’s acquisition of Plas Garnedd Care

Belmere Care Group, a newly formed, doctor‑led care home operator, has completed the acquisition of Plas Garnedd Care Limited, which owns two highly regarded residential care homes in Llanfairpwllgwyngyll and Pentraeth on the Isle of Anglesey

The acquisition marks a successful transition for the previous owners, who have stepped back after many years of dedicated service, and represents the first acquisition for Belmere Care Group, a privately held organisation focused on acquiring, modernising and operating high quality, boutique residential care environments across the UK.

Belmere Care Group is led by husband‑and‑wife team Dr Christopher Millward and Dr Elizabeth Sweeney, both practising NHS consultants. Dr Millward, a former NHS neurosurgeon and senior civil servant with the UK medicines regulator, has left his previous roles to focus full‑time on developing the group. Dr Sweeney is a Consultant Hepatologist and clinical governance lead at a major NHS teaching hospital. Together, they bring extensive clinical, governance and leadership expertise to the care sector, with a strong emphasis on combining medical rigour with compassionate, person-centred care.

As part of their immediate post completion commitments, the new owners undertook a comprehensive review of staff pay and conditions. This has resulted in the implementation of the Real Living Wage, alongside an equivalent uplift across all staff roles, reinforcing Belmere Care Group’s commitment to fairly rewarding those who care for residents each day.
