Established care home sold to highly experienced, first time buyer

Specialist commercial finance broker, Christie Finance has arranged and structured the finance for the purchase of the freehold of The Elms Residential Care Home, located in the village of Staunton, Gloucestershire, by highly experienced new entrant, Helena Hadzihajdic.

The Elms Care Home is an established, fully managed, purpose-built facility currently registered for 22 residents. Located on the edge of the Forest of Dean, the home overlooks the picturesque Gloucestershire countryside, with impressive views down into the Wye Valley.

The home has been purchased by Evergreen Care Services Limited, a local, family run business led by Helena Hadzihajdic, a registered nurse with nearly 20 years’ experience in caring for the elderly and people with complex care needs. A well-connected figure in the area, Helena will be utilising her connections with the local authority and CQC regulator to bring The Elms back to its full trading capacity. With big plans for The Elms, Helena has already begun a renovation and improvement programme to advance the quality of care at the home and attract more residents. She plans to hire staff from the local area and encourage the community to get more involved in this exciting new chapter for the home.

Jimmy Johns, Finance Consultant at Christie & Co who handled the deal, comments, “Helena had managed and run all aspects of the previous care home she worked at, dealing with staffing issues, recruiting, budgets, fees, the local authority and regulators. It was this extensive experience and knowledge of the sector that was key to securing the finance she needed to complete this acquisition. Although we had to overcome many hurdles throughout the course of arranging this deal for Helena, I am pleased that it all came together and delighted that we were able to support her in achieving her goal.”
