Award winning hotel on the Isle of Coll set for expansion

The owners of the Coll Hotel in Argyll, Scotland are developing their award winning hotel with funding secured by specialist commercial finance broker, Christie Finance.

Kevin and Julie Oliphant are the proud owners of the charming and traditional hotel, previously owned by three generations of the Oliphant family since the early 1960’s. The family’s dedication to running a first class hotel has not gone unnoticed with the hotel being awarded ‘Scottish Island Hotel of the Year’ two years running by Hotel Review Scotland.

The Coll Hotel is an integral part of the community, working with local schools offering chef training to senior pupils for the last seven years. Guests can also enjoy an evening of stargazing into the dark skies, as the Isle of Coll is one of only 22 dark sky viewing spots worldwide.

The hotel offers en suite accommodation for up to 18 guests, restaurant and lounge bar. The family are now in the process of undertaking a programme of development and extension to the property. Four additional bedrooms will be created as well as improvements to the bar and restaurant area.

Julie Oliphant comments “Stephen could not have been more helpful, no bells and whistles just accurate, realistic, understanding and enthusiasm for our project. He was always contactable and kept us in the loop of any developments from start to finish. We would definitely use Stephen again”.

Stephen McConalogue, Finance Consultant at Christie Finance comments “It has been an absolute pleasure supporting the Oliphant family in extending the Coll hotel. The hotel is already extremely successful and with the development of extra accommodation and improvements to the dining areas; the business will continue to flourish”.

A great example of how Christie Finance can support experienced business owners in accessing development finance to extend or renovate their business premises.
