Experienced operators secure refinance of Lincolnshire-based retail groups through Christie Finance

Christie Finance has supported two highly experienced retail operators, Gillian Marsh and Thomas Dant, to refinance their Lincolnshire-based convenience store and filling station companies, Tag Retail Ltd and Gill Marsh Forecourts Ltd.

Mrs Marsh began retailing in 1971 when she purchased her first petrol station and established Gill Marsh Forecourts Ltd. Successfully trading the group in her name through to 2015, she converted a second petrol station and built a third to add to her portfolio. Following a substantial increase in profits, Gill decided to transfer the business into a limited company. The group is now highly profitable supplying a combined 8.4 million litres of fuel per annum.

Mr Dant began to work for Gill in 2006, running her newly opened Ulceby cross filling station. Tom quickly achieved a promotion to General Manager and was subsequently appointed as a Director. In 2019, Tom and Gill formed a new venture together, Tag Retail Ltd, and acquired two convenience stores that now generate significant profits.

The pair have now secured a refinance deal that will allow them to repay previous funding packages and carry out plans to develop their portfolio.

Managing Director at Christie Finance, John Mitchell commented, “The lending market for petrol forecourts has tightened in the last 12 to 18 months, however our specialist team are still able to access excellent debt solutions for quality operators, such as Mrs Marsh and Mrs Dant, We wish them the very best in their future endeavours and look forward to hearing of their successes.”
