A filling station, established 45 years ago in the village of Gilwern, is sold
The Bristol Office of leading business agents, Christie + Co, has sold Gilwern Filling Station & Spar Shop, which is situated approximately half a mile off the A465 Heads of the Valleys Road in the village of Gilwern, near Abergavenny in Monmouthshire. Independent mortgage brokers, Christie Finance arranged the funding for the purchaser.
The business trades as a free of tie petrol filling station and has been in the village for over 45 years. The Spar convenience store was converted from the former garage workshop, which was removed from the business seven years ago, and comprises a floor area of approximately 1,300 sq ft. The business is supported by good ancillary areas, including a stock room immediately to the rear of the shop, as well as a small kitchen with a bake-off facility and oven, and there are three self-contained flats.
Philip Stimpson, from Christie + Co’s Bristol Office, who handled the sale, commented; “Gilwern Filling Station & Spar Shop is an attractive business with good fuel sales, high turnover shop sales and owner’s accommodation on site. Our marketing of the petrol filling station attracted much interest and the business was sold to Mr Patel, who is relocating from London.”
Gilwern Filling Station & Spar Shop was sold for an undisclosed sum from an asking price of £900,000 for the freehold interest.
