A 12-bedroom hotel in a North Wales seaside town is sold

The Marine Hotel, which is situated in the seaside town of Criccieth in North Wales; overlooking the 13th Century castle and Tremadog Bay, has been sold through the Manchester Office of leading business agents, Christie + Co. The funding and the insurances were arranged by Christie Finance and Christie Insurance.

The property was originally built in 1880 and comprises a public bar for approximately 30, which also has its own separate access, a function room for 90 and a dining room to accommodate 40. The 12 en suite letting bedrooms are located on the first and second floors, with two of the rooms having been used as owner’s accommodation, despite there also being additional accommodation on the second floor for such use.

Historically, the business has predominantly operated on a bed and breakfast basis by Mr Chris Bridge, who had owned the hotel for approximately three years. During this time, he refurbished the property, including the addition of a terrace to the front, but decided to sell due to other interests. The new owners, Mr Martin Stone and his wife, will run the business together, with the input of a business colleague.

Kelly Catterall, from Christie + Co’s Manchester Office, who handled the sale, commented; “This is a superb example of how we can provide an all-round service to purchasers. Christie + Co is able to match a property to a purchaser, then Christie Finance and Christie Insurance are able to arrange both funding and insurance. Keeping everything in-house has kept this transaction progress smoothly from conception to completion.
“The sale of the Marine Hotel shows how well quality units in North Wales will sell and we are still finding that demand is far outstripping supply for such properties.”
