One of Cornwall’s busiest independent petrol filling stations is sold

A petrol filling station, with a convenience store, situated on a major route in Cornwall’s primary town, has been sold through the Exeter Office of leading business agents, Christie + Co. Independent mortgage brokers, Christie Finance arranged the finance for the purchasers.

Bypass Filling Station is located on the A390 in St Austell which links Cornwall’s largest town with the county capital and cathedral city of Truro and comprises a good size forecourt, with a Premier-branded convenience store and customer parking area. The shop sales area measures approximately 750 sq ft, with staff facilities, ancillary areas and offices to the rear and has recently undergone a major Premier re-fit. A successful Eurodrive car hire firm is operated from an area to the rear of the store and the local Tourist Information Centre is also on site.

Paul Heather, from Christie + Co’s Exeter Office, who handled the sale, commented; “Bypass Filling Station was sold on behalf of Bernard Tregunna, who is one of the town’s best known businessmen; having been in the filling station trade for more than 30 years and he is now enjoying a well earned retirement. The market for petrol filling stations continues to grow rapidly and our marketing of this business raised a high level of interest encouraging buyers from all around the country. The business was eventually sold to new owners, Ramesh Depala and his family, who have relocated from London. This is the family’s first business and they hope to build on Bernard’s success and plan a number of improvements over the coming months.”

Bypass Filling Station was sold for an undisclosed sum from an asking price of £1,000,000 for the freehold interest.
