A Bradford convenience store has become a Costcutter, following its sale

A convenience store in the West Yorkshire city of Bradford has changed hands through the Leeds Office of leading business agents, Christie + Co, after 44 years in the same ownership. Independent mortgage brokers, Christie Finance, arranged the funding for the purchase.

Amba’s is situated on Scholemoor Lane, close to the village of Clayton, which is approximately two miles west of the city centre. The business occupies a brick-built two-storey end of parade property, which was originally two properties, but the adjoining walls have been knocked down to provide a well fitted sales area of approximately 500 sq ft and spacious five-bedroom owner’s accommodation.

Income is derived from the sale of newspapers, magazines, confectionary, tobacco products, off licence sales, greetings cards and general groceries.

Nick Nunn, from Christie + Co’s Leeds Office, who handled the sale, commented; “After running the business for the past 44 years, the owner of Amba Stores decided to sell in order to retire. The purchaser is an experienced local operator, Mr Aujla, who has extended the store and re-branded it under the Costcutter banner.”

Amba’s was sold for an undisclosed sum from an asking price of £235,000 for the freehold interest.
