An established coastal village guest house in Norfolk has changed hands

A guest house situated in the sought-after coastal village of Sheringham in Norfolk, which is one of only a few in the area to offer predominately family rooms, has been sold through the Ipswich Office of leading hotel agents, Christie + Co, with independent mortgage brokers, Christie Finance providing the funding for the purchase.

Pentland Lodge is a two-storey chalet bungalow, with four family bedrooms, a double and a single bedroom and a conservatory situated to the rear of the house, which is used as a breakfast room and can accommodate approximately 16 covers. The owner’s accommodation comprises two bedrooms, an office, a reading room and a shower room with WC facilities. The rear garden is mainly paved with a small conservatory and steps leading up to an elevated patio area.

Mark Page, from Christie + Co’s Ipswich Office, who handled the sale, commented: “Pentland Lodge is a well established and friendly guest house, open all year round and trades with a 4 Diamond award rating. As it offers mainly family rooms, this gives it a niche in the market. The business was sold on behalf of Jerry and Elaine Hanley, who purchased it through Christie + Co in 2006, ten days after their wedding! The new owners, Jeff and Janette Gardiner, are originally from Eastry in Kent and this is their first business.”

Offers in excess of £395,000 were sought for the freehold interest of the business and it was sold for an undisclosed sum. Andy Elly from Christie Finance arranged the funding for the purchasers.
