New skipper takes helm at the Ship Inn, Woolston
A well known local publican has taken the helm at the Ship Inn on the eastern shore of the River Itchen in Woolston, Southampton, Hampshire.
The Winchester office of leading licensed property agents,
Christie + Co, has sold the leasehold interest in the pub to Pat
Zanoletti from Southampton on behalf of Alex and Gwynn Wilson, who
are retiring after 23 years of ownership.
Christie Finance, the independent mortgage brokers, sourced the
funding for the new lessee.
The Ship Inn, at 107 Victoria Road, stands directly opposite the former Vosper Thornycroft Shipyard, a historic site with a deepwater quay which is earmarked for a major residential and waterside development. The Ship has for many years been an integral part of the local community and the trade is likely to receive a significant boost once the development opposite is complete.

industry, having previously managed two well known Southampton
pubs, The Grapes and The Oxford. Pat is planning some
improvements to the Ship Inn. She intends to introduce a food
trade, improve the garden, reintroduce darts, pool and football
teams and provide regular entertainment.

The Ship Inn is a two-storey detached property built on a steep
incline with a main bar, pool area, darts area, three-bedroom
owner’s accommodation, trade and private gardens and a car
park.
Christie + Co sought offers in the region of £63,000 for the
leasehold interest in the Ship Inn, which was sold for an
undisclosed figure. The current lease runs until February 2029 and
the current rent is £20,000 per annum. The landlord is
Avebury Taverns.
