A children’s day nursery in Essex has changed hands, after 16 years in the same ownership

The leasehold interest of Blooming Babies Day Nursery, which is situated within the grounds of St Cleres School in Stanford-le-Hope, Essex, has been sold to David and Mary Sogeke.

The funding for the purchase was arranged through independent mortgage brokers, Christie Finance and the sale was handled through leading business agents, Christie + Co, via the Ipswich Office.

Registered for 26 children, the nursery is a purpose-built single-storey semi-detached unit, comprising a main play room, a separate baby room, a nappy change area, a main kitchen and a staff room. The fully enclosed garden is divided into two areas; one half with climbing apparatus and the other block paved, and has a gate backing onto the school’s grounds.

Nicholas Baker, from Christie Finance, commented; “The business had been run by Ilana King since 1991, but she decided to sell so she could concentrate on other business interests. Mary Sogeke has run after school clubs and is very experienced in the childcare sector, while her husband, David, is a banker. We were delighted to act on behalf of Mr and Mrs Sogeke in negotiating a finance deal for the purchase of Blooming Babies. Despite the complexity of leasehold lending, we secured market lending terms. We wish Mr and Mrs Sogeke every success with their new venture.”

Blooming Babies was sold for an undisclosed sum from a leasehold asking price of £165,000. Robert Mellamphy from Christie + Co handled the sale.
