New owners for the Blue Boar Bar and Restaurant in St Clears
Christie Finance has provided funding for new
owners, Nick Meurig Jones and Janet Jones, to purchase the Blue
Boar Bar and Restaurant in the attractive market town of St Clears,
near Carmarthen Bay in West Carmarthenshire.
Located on the Taf estuary, just off the A30
between Carmarthen and Haverfordwest, St Clears is within easy
reach of beaches at Laugharne, Pendine, Saundersfoot and Tenby and
close to a number of visitor attractions.
The Blue Boar Bar and Restaurant stands
alongside Pentre Road and trades virtually unopposed in St Clears
as a café, bar, pub and restaurant. The two-storey,
semi-detached property briefly comprises lounge and reception bars,
a main 36-cover restaurant, three-bedroom owner’s
accommodation, private parking and a small terrace.
The boar is an emblem of St Clears, which is
known to historians for its association with the Rebecca Riots of
1839. The then Blue Boar Inn in St Clears acted as a base for the
trustees and magistrates after oppressed farmers attacked the hated
tollgates. Dylan Thomas lived near St Clears and the town’s
characters inspired much of his famous play ‘Under Milk
Wood’.
Evan Morgan, mortgage broker of Christie
Finance, comments: “This sale represents the realisation of
an ambition of the buyers to own their own bar and restaurant. I am
delighted to have acted on their behalf in securing a very
competitive loan from the Royal Bank of Scotland.”
Nick has experience in the catering trade but
this is his first business purchase. He comments:
“Janet and I would like to thank Christie Finance for helping
us with our first purchase and look forward to doing business with
them again.”
The Blue Boar Bar & Restaurant was sold
for an undisclosed figure from an asking price of £290,000
for the freehold interest.
