A Tunbridge Wells tearoom changes hands
Christie Finance has provided the funding for new owners, Doug and Annette Sparshott, to purchase The Nutmeg Tree Tea Rooms within the Food Court of the Royal Victoria Place shopping centre in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
Mr and Mrs Sparshott, experienced local café and tearoom operators from East Peckham in Tonbridge, have purchased the leasehold business from Mr Going who was the creator and first operator of the business when it opened in May 1992.
The elegant Georgian town of Tunbridge Wells lies within the scenic Weald of Kent, just a short distance from London, and attracts many visitors and tourists all year round.
The Nutmeg Tree Tea Rooms has a good location within an undercover shopping centre with over 100 well known high street names. The tearooms occupy ground floor premises and can seat 80 customers.
New proprietor Doug Sparshott has 18 years’ experience of running cafés and tearooms. Between 2003 and mid 2006, Doug and Annette owned and ran Molly’s Café in the High Street, Tonbridge, the finance for which was also brokered through Christie Finance.
Mark Aston from the Winchester office of Christie First comments: “Following their success at Molly’s Café, I was delighted when Mr and Mrs Sparshott return to me for assistance with funding their next venture, the Nutmeg Tree Tea Rooms. With their experience, I have every confidence they will make a success of their new business.”
Mr and Mrs Sparshott have purchased The Nutmeg Tree Tea Rooms on a leasehold basis for an undisclosed figure.
