Christie Finance assists a first time pub buyer to acquire a Suffolk country freehouse
Christie Finance, the independent mortgage broker, is delighted to have assisted Carol Gibson to acquire her first freehold freehouse; The Bull Inn in the rural Suffolk village of Thorpe Morieux, near the medieval wool town of Lavenham.
The Bull Inn is a character country freehouse set amidst beautiful rolling countryside in the centre of a triangle formed by Bury St. Edmunds, Stowmarket and Sudbury. The inn serves good food and real ales and is a hub of the local community, hosting pool, darts and cribbage teams and supporting village events.
Miss Gibson has purchased the Bull Inn and the owner’s house in the grounds from the Clyton family, who are retiring from the pub trade after 13 years of ownership. Eric and Doreen Clyton successfully ran the freehouse as a family concern with their daughter, Beverley, and son, Gary. During their ownership the Bull Inn was named top country pub in the area for hospitality, quality of beer and atmosphere by ‘Five Local Lads,’ as featured in local media. It was also awarded ‘Rural Pub of the Month’ by CAMRA.
A detached property at 10 Bury Road, the Bull Inn briefly comprises a main bar, conservatory, games room, private accommodation divided into two first floor flats, a lawned trade garden, trade terrace and car park. The freehouse was sold together with the Old Orchard, a new two-bedroom detached house within the grounds. Both properties stand on a one-acre plot with views over open countryside.
